JOEL DAVEL
Electronic Percussion

Joel Davel is an active performer dedicated to breaking new ground in a variety of musical contexts. His interests are also channeled into work with Don Buchla, building new electronic instruments such as the Marimba Lumina being used tonight. In addition to his work with Paul Dresher Ensemble, Joel performs with jazz group Jack West and Curvature and in solo appearances. Joel has also appeared with Paul Dresher in collaborations with Nancy Karp + Dancers, ODC, and the Allyson Green Dance Company. His aesthetic is greatly influenced by his young professional association, as a composer and live musician, with innovative theater companies in Milwaukee. Joel holds a BM in percussion from Northern Illinois University and an MFA in electronic music from Mills College.
