MARJA MUTRU Keyboard
Marja Mutru received her Master's degree in piano performance from Sibelius Academy in her native Finland, where she frequently worked in association with the main symphony orchestras and the National Opera. Focusing in ensemble music and opera brought her to the United States after participating the European premiere and the recording of John Adams' opera "I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky" in 1995-1996.
Since settling in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mutru has been working with various local ensembles, including San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Earplay, Kronos Quartet and California Symphony performing and recording mostly contemporary repertoire. Mutru joined the Paul Dresher Ensemble along with the Mackey/Eckert opera Ravenshead in 1998.
