ARC — the Artists Residency Center — will provide studio residencies to early to mid-career Northern California artists working in the time-based arts. The Center is conveniently located in West Oakland, and residencies will last from one to four weeks. Each residency provides uninterrupted access to the Ensemble's large rehearsal studio and fabrication shop, including sound, lighting, projection, and recording equipment. As needed, members of the Ensemble's staff will be available to provide technical, financial, and managerial consultations. Please note: facilities are work-only and not suitable for use for public performances. Artists/projects must provide all their own housing and transportation.

Program Goals: The Paul Dresher Ensemble has established the ARC program in order to foster future generations of artists who actively explore new aesthetic premises and push the boundaries of conventional art forms and media.
In our early years, the Paul Dresher Ensemble had a strong and supportive arts community that played a vital role in the development and success of our work. Equally vital was having access to affordable work spaces and up-to-date technological equipment. With the ARC program, we will provide these vital elements — physical space, technology, and strong peer support — to other artists and organizations in Northern California.
- Developing new work in music, theater, dance, media art and interdisciplinary performance
- Experimenting with new creative concepts, approaches, or methods
- Researching and developing new technology for use in performance (e.g. musical instrument invention)
- Preparing an existing work for its premiere performance.
